Follow the alarm speaker (Horn sounding off) wiring. It will most likely go underneath the dash. Remove the box for the aftermarket alarm and all its wiring. (Not car manufacture harness) make sure to take it all out as certain models can leave vehicle unable to start if only partial removed.
to work on cars, electrics you need 2 things a schematic and a list of options, some years have alarms. some have relays, some have both. the schematic is at alldata dot com or mitchells online.
if car has aftermaket alram, it may be hacked in to the stock horn and may render the horn dead. look for cut and spliced wires. bingo, hacking.
If its an after market alarm, look under the dash board just above the steering column look for a fuse it should be visible just remove it from the fuse holder.
when the alarm goes off try unlocking the trunk the jeep i bought the larm is runned through the trunk if i dont unlock the trunk first the alram goes off
this happened to me recently with my 96 grand cherokee. the battery got drained by the alarm going off randomly at night. i pulled the fuse for the horn so at least my neighbors would only be bothered by flashing lights. then i couldn't jump the car because the alarm was still going off. i hooked my car to jump it to another car, and then i had to deactivate the alarm first by putting my key in the driver side door and unlocking the car. then i left it hooked to another car and still getting power but didn't jump it for at least 5 minutes in case the computer needed to reset. then it jumped fine. from what i've read online, this is a common problem that can be avoided if you stop using the power locks and always manually lock and unlock the doors with your key. its a little annoying, but apparently the power locks are connected to the alarm issue. hope the same works for you.
