When I power up my GPS I get a message on the LCD screen that reads:UPLOAD NOT PRESENT Please would someone assist me in establishing what the problem is, as I have a lot of info on the GPS that I cannot even download onto pc, as it appears that the device is not initialising. Thank you kindly. rgds Gareth
My Garmin 12 was doing the same thing. I went to ebay and ordered the serial port to 4 pin GPS cord. I turned my computer off and connected the cord to my computer and GPS. I turned my computer back on and went to the Garmin website, and then to updates & downloads. There were two versions available and I went with the GPS 12 software version 4.60. Then I printed off the instructions and followed the instructions at the bottom of the page. I had some problems with #5. After looking at the Garmin download directory I found the file updater.exe and used it instead of the updatesw.exe which I didn't find in their directory. I only did this once but I remember seeing a pop up window confirming the serial port you want to use and another that I think verified the software version of my GPS. After making the appropriate selections on those boxes the download started and a box popped up that showed the progress. About 5 minutes later the GPS had shut off and when I turned it on it loaded. I had to go in and adjust the contrast but it appeared that all the previous stored waypoints were still there. Hope this helps, no promises. Good luck.

I would say that it has a bit of Umzumbe fever probably from the water it sucked up when you failed to warn me that it was in my pocket when i jumped over board, a bit like a beer can, no upload available
