Question about Fellowes S701CM Shredder

1 Answer

Royal Shredder My shredder will no longer shut off after the shredding is done. For the first few months everything worked perfectly, and we were able to leave the shredder in AUTO mode, put paper in it, and walk away knowing it would shut itself off after the paper was gone. Now we have to tend it and slide the switch to off after the paper is gone. I've tried oiling the cutting blades, making sure there are no paper scraps hiding in it, and a general blow-out with compressed air. Is there anything else I could try?

There is a small micro switch in about the middle of the paper slot, make sure it is not jammed, it should move freely and make a small clicking sound with the power off.

My paper shredder turns on but will not shred paper

Was anyone in the office during that week, like contract cleaners, or any other staff or maintenance staff?

Sounds to me like someone has been using it, using it too long, adding to much paper in a hurry and shattered or shredded some internal gears. They get soft when they get hot and no one reads the manual where is says to use for no longer than 5 minutes, with a 20 minutes rest.

Strip it down and look. I am pretty sure you can get Royal Spares here.

My royal 112mx shredder doesn't shut off automatically after shredding a sheet

Unplug the shredder. Either blow with canned air or take a small paintbrush and clean the sensors where you put the paper in. There is one above and one below in the center of the slot.

My royal shredder will shred paper just fine but now it won't shred a credit card. any ideas?

Silly question if it shreds paper fine but....when did you last oil the machine.???
Cross cut shredders need to be regularly oiled..( pour some shredder oil across the cutting blades).
It may just be that the credit card is too thick!

Shredder won't shred forward but works in reverse

Either the "eyes" are dirty or faulty, or the pcb has gone. Call Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts availability. When you get it working again only run the unit at 70% of its max rating... this provides less stress on the motor and internal parts.. the machine will last longer and you will have fewer jams.

Shredder only operates in reverse

Check and try cleaning the "eyes" in the paper throat... if that dosn't fix it it could be the pcb inside...call Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts help.

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.

Royal VF12mx shredder

Pour some shredder oil in the throat where you normally insert the paper...put some shredder oil directly onto 1 sheet of paper and try shredding 1 sheet. If it wont even shred 1 sheet I would ask is the shredder running???

Shredding no more

if the unit is pulling paper thru but not shredding your cutters have separated for some reason. If not pulling paper thru but machine is running you probally have a broken gear causing cutters to no longer turn you may hear a clunking or grinding noise or gear may be stripped if shredder sounds like it is spinning freely. Contact manufacturer for parts availability.

Turns on when paper in slot, but won't pull it through to shred.

must disassemble feeder unit. you will find many bits of shredded paper to pull (push) out with a long narrow tool like a crochet needle.
