Hi There Our Smeg S650 Washing machine makes a lot of noise whilst spinning. Just wondering what might be the possible problem & if that is something that could be fixed by us or better to call...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Any noise the washer makes while spinning usually is traced back to the motor drive ot the spin bearing. This is if it is only while spinning. It will make loud noises. You need to check the motor drive or the spin bearing. One of them is probably bad. The motor drive is what spins the arm. They can go bad or it might be the bearings.

We have a Whirlpool Duet Sport Front-Loading Automatic Washer and it makes a pretty loud noise when in the spin cycle. The volume is directly proportional as to how fast the washer is spinning. It's a...

The symptoms that you describe are caused by bearing failure. The water seal in the wash tub has failed, allowing water to leak into the bearing causing the bearings to rust. As the bearings start to rust, they will not roll properly and start to make a rumbling sound. The sound get louder the faster the bearing turns.
It a major job to repair since the washer has to be taken apart and the wash drum needs to be removed to replace the seal and bearings. Get a few estimates before deciding whether the washer is worth the cost to repair or replace. Sorry.

GE Profile Washer very loud bearing noise when spinning.

when they leak is when the damage usually occurs... the fact that the sound started afterwards may be a fluke, although damaging it while replacing seal is a definite possibility...

FAULTY WASHING MACHINE

is it a GE or Hotpoint? if so it is the main bearing. the center seal might have leaked water on the bearing.  if you look inside the washer you will see a ring of rust splatter inside the case of the washer. if this is the case than you have to change the transmission or buy a new machine.
transmissions are $200+

Maytag MAV6000Aww washer-loud noise when spinning

Chances are it is not the tub. It is probably the transmission. It has been my experience that the transmission bearing starts to make noise. Look under the unit to see if you can spot any transmission oil. If there is oil, it's time to start shopping for a new unit.

Loud noise during spin cycle

this is my experience repairing the maytag washer Atlantis mav series 9750 aww, I had to replace the spin bearing since it was making a jet engine noise when it was spinning out the water. its not an easy job for my 1st time taking this machine apart, you literally take it all apart to get to this bearing, but now I can show how to do it with pictures making it easier for you to do it. even if you have to replace something other than the spin bearing, this how to tutorial will show you how to get to most of the parts in this machine
