Hello,i own a rx3715 and facing some problems.
1 the battery is displayed as unknown in the battery status menu, no level of charge no nothing. When connected to the charger there is no led flashing, amber light or anything. Also, is it normal that the pda can power on using only the charger, with no battery inserted? Other ipaq's don't do that from my experience.
2 the sd card (any sd/mmc card inserted) works very slow, it also slows down the pda very much. It takes about 10 min to copy a 3 mb file from another location to the sd card.
3 the pda doesn't always power on from the power button. To power on i must make a soft reset.
I think those problems are somewhat related each other. After a ROM update they still remain unsolved.
Also I do have some other questions about rx3715. Is it possible to install wm5 on it, where can it be found? Are there any programs to improve the camera performance?
What problems do you have more exactly? Is your rx3715 using the original battery? And how did the problem occured to you. It will be helpfull to me to figure what is rong as I have experience with pda's but this problem is pretty odd to me.What problems do you have more exactly? :) I was shure I was facing some serious problems but as a guy with experience over these things I figured out, after the dissasembly and the ROM upgrades, that the problem isn't software nor hardware related, somewhere between - the firmware. A ROM update doesn't replace the PDA's firmware so the problem can't be corrected by these methods. Sometimes the card is more faster, sometimes is not, the battery isn't displayed most of the time and no leds are flashing altrought the charging circuitry is ok. Therefore my question is, is there a way to upgrade the firmware for this device? Not a ROM updade, a firmware one.:) I was shure I was facing some serious problems but as a guy with experience over these things I figured out, after the dissasembly and the ROM upgrades, that the problem isn't software nor hardware related, somewhere between - the firmware. If you have only flashed the English ROM, not any other language ROMs, read the following paragraphs. If you have flashed other language ROMs but not the German one try flashing the German one instead, there is something about it that clears the ppc out better. If you have flashed the German one, do not read on, as it will be an insult to your intelligence.
Most problems can be fixed with a ROM correction. Unfortunately, this is unachievable by simple re-flashing the English ROM. Certain other versions of the ROM (usually German is used) contain different enough sets of code (possibly different firmware?) to force the ppc to truly reset, unlike what happens when simply flashing the US ROM or changing to ROMS that use similar enough coding. Try flashing the German ROM and THEN reverting to the English. This tends to solve most any major iPaq issue.

1.Check the device's battery level for at least two bars of strength. 2.If the battery level is low, charge the battery. 3.If the issue is not resolved, remove the back cover. 4.Remove the battery. 5.Wait 10 seconds. 6.Press and hold the W key. 7.While pressing down the W key, re-insert the battery. ā¢The device restarts and after approximately 15 seconds, the 'Recovery' screen appears ā¢Release the power button but *continue holding the home button*, for another 30 seconds. In this case, actually it is not the Black toner that got depleted.
Here the message being displayed indicate that one of the color Toner supply
need to be replaced as it got depleted and currently the printer is printing in
Black and white using the Black toner cartridge.
in this case, to troubleshoot these issues please try
performing the following and check for the results.
* 1. Check for the level of the toner cartridges:
a) Check from the HP Toolbox application. Here are the steps
to be performed from your PC:
* Access the Toolbox software.
* Select the Status tab.
* Select the Device status option.
Here you can check for the supplies status in terms of the %
remaining for each toner cartridges.
b) By checking the supplies status from the printer control
panel display.
On the printer display when printer is in Ready mode the
supplies status can be checked from the supplies level indicator. Each toner
cartridge and the Imaging drum level will be indicated by a bar which varies
according to the level of the supplies present.
c) Print the supplies status page from the printer.
* On the printer control panel menu, press Menu .
* Use the (Right Arrow) button
to select Reports, and then press Enter .
* Use the (Right Arrow) button
to select Supplies Status, and then press Enter .
If any of the color toner cartridges and the Imaging drum
have a low supply level replace them with genuine HP print cartridges.
The part numbers of the consumables are as follows:

Something that worked for me, I opened the Conon MX310. took out both cartridges, and for 10 seconds I held the Reset. put the cartridges back in, closed the lid, and again, for another 10 seconds held the reset. SLOW seconds. this reset, ink levels recognised,, and it's working as it should be.
The only answer that I know of is third-party software. I have a battery monitor program that puts a battery meter down there, just like what you want. It's called "BatteryWatch 1.02" and I got it from pocketgear.com.
Here's the url to the download page:

it's FREE. :-)
