CPU compatability My Presario notebook is equipped with an AMD Athlon XP mobile chip 1.6 Ghz. Would the motherboard support a Pentium 4 mobile 3.2 Ghz chip. Also would anyone know offhand if th CPU is surface or socket mounted on this machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most probably your hardware ie graphic card do not support software requirements.

If your computer has less than 512MB of RAM, then that is one "bottle-neck" that hurts your computer's overall performance.
Consider adding 512MB or 1024MB of RAM.

Or, your motherboard probably will accept other AMD processors in the "Athlon XP" line. Take your computer to a computer-store, and see if they can sell you a '2600+' or '2800+' AMD CPU that will be compatible with your motherboard. That upgrade will make your CPU almost _twice_ its current speed.

Need to look at the motherboard specs along with the processor "Socket". It will usually be a 754 or 939 depending on what your motherboard says. I wouldn't try too fast and set yourself up for disappointment. I would upgrade the RAM before the processor.
