Cannot Capture video from JVC GR-PD1 using Premiere Pro CS3
Hi,I cannot Capture video from JVC GR-PD1 using Premiere Pro CS3. I *THINK* (I didn't to the recording myself) the video was recorded with the camera set to PS50 mode: "PS50: Allows you to record on a tape in MPEG2 format (576p)." Premiere recognises the model of the camera, and I am able to set up device control, but no image is fed through. I've tried with various project settings, no luck. I assume if footage had been recorded in regular DV mode there wouldn't be a problem.
I don't have the software or Driver cd that came with the cam. And I'm on an iMac. I would have thought Premiere Pro CS3 would handle this without a problem.
to add, I saw this post: http://www.fixya.com/support/t188497-cap...
...."I have a similar problem, i - by mistake - shot some footage in ps 50 mode. Now i can capture it in my mac by playing it analog, and than capture it."
Does this mean I have to capture the material analogue? Surely not In this day and age?? :)

Me again. I managed to capture the video using the following project settings: Sony XDCAM HD/Ex (SP) 1080i Capture Settings: HDV Cam set to PS50 and MPEG2. However captured files ONLY playback in VLC player (so far as I can tell.) I can import into Premiere for editing, but when exporting, either returns an error or has incorrect dimensions, even with same 16:9 settings selected. weird. will look again tomorrow.

Use MPEG Streamclip to convert m2t to a useable file (MPEG).
