Do you have ink in the cartridges? Just because the computer says there is ink does not mean there really is ink.

Try making a copy and see if it copies. That will tell you if you have ink. Just go to the canon all in one and place something on it to copy and press copy from the controls panel on the printer.

  • Open the Canon software, do an alignment and print a test page. There might be an icon on your desktop for Canon or you can look in your program list by clicking Start/Programs or Start/All Programs and look for the Canon folders. There should be something that you can click that opens the maintenance so you can do things like change the print cartridge, do an alignment or print a test page.

You can also get there by looking for Printers in the control panel. Click Start/Control Panel or Start/Settings Control Panel and look for Printers. Open your Printer and select Properties or right click on your printer and select properties. Look for maintenance to do an alignment and print a test page.

Printer keeps defaulting to fax option

You have set the default printer to the Fax option.
Firstly, you could use the drop down menu where the Printer is displayed (when you go to print), and select the "regular" printer as opposed to the 'fax printer".
To set the default permanently to the laser printer....go to "printers and faxes" in 'control panel'. You will see a "check mark" next to the 'Canon MX 300 Fax' (or whatever it is called) identifying it as default. You want to put the 'check' next to the "regular printer" (whatever it is called)....'right click' on it, then "left click' on "set as default". Now when you go to print anything, it will just print.

Canon pixma mx 300 won't send or receive fax

Dear friend,
it's very important to connect your MX 300 with the telephone line the right way! Please read once more the part "Preparing the machine for fax" in the chapter "Faxing" of the MX 300 User's Guide and mind the hint "Important: Do not connect the machine and external devices in parallel to the same telephone line using a splitter (A). The machine may not operate properly."

Greetings from Cologne (Germany) to the UK!
