Samsung Intensity: How to avoid the voice recognition prompt
The Samsung Intensity has many nice features. It comes equipped with voice recognition software, which many people like. However, for others it is merely annoying. If you keep your phone in your pocket or purse, you might hear a muffled voice saying "Please say a command" from time to time as the phone's voice recognition button is bumped.
Fortunately, you can disable this voice prompt (if you want to) with just a few simple steps:
1. Press the voice recognition button on the upper right hand side of the phone.
2. Press the right options button to go to the Settings.
3. Select Prompts (#5).
4. Select Mode (#1).
5. Select Tones Only (the last choice).
6. Hit OK to save the change.
Now, when you accidentally bump that button, you'll just hear a short single tone, rather than the voice prompt.
If you want to reduce the volume for the voice recognition (either for the voice prompt or for the tone) that can be done easily as well. Follow the steps above to get to the Prompts menu, and select Audio playback (choice #2). Highlight the choice for Earpiece, and hit OK to save your choice.
The voice recognition function will now use the earpiece to play any sounds, rather than the speakerphone, so whether you set it for a voice prompt or a tone, the sound will be much quieter and hopefully you won't even notice it.
You can also lock the phone when you're not using it, which will disable the voice recognition button so you don't have to worry about bumping it. To lock your phone, just hold down the zero (0) key for two seconds. You'll see a message on the screen that the phone is now locked.
Thanks for the voice recognition answer. I seem to thing the right microphone is also a key. Any thoughts here. Thanks again.Len d
