My laptop (compaq presario cq61) wont charge or turn on, even when plugged in. When I try to power up, the lights blink az few times, then goes off.

It worked a few days ago. When i went to plug it in, the charger (power Brick) light will not stay on if i bump it by accident, It wont stay of for long periods of times also. I hope its just a simple fix :/ Everything is on my computer.

SOURCE: No start after pushing Power button

I think you have to use the power DC to get the laptop on.

When it starts and windows is running. Check the power plannings.

Some configuration turn the battery charger of and will not
charge the battery!

Try to start up in safe mote ad choose save with a dos prompt.
If get in this. Press ctrl+alt+del to get the tas manager.

Open a new task. in C:\windows\explorer.exe you will get
the browser starting. Its easier to work then to type
everyting.

Go to the control panel and open the power planning.
Here you can change how the power must act.

When you're don press again ctrl+alt+del and choose from the
menu to shutdown or restart your pc.

I had the same problem after one month an figger out that the
battery woulden't charge at all and checked the power planning.

After that the battery charge again everytime when I use the power DC it charge the battery and stop charging when the battery is fully loaded.

You can see when you close the lid the power LCD light up
thats meen that the batery is charging and when its full the light
goes off.

I hope this will helps you.

SOURCE: Laptop won't switch on

Your laptop went to sleep mode and could not wake up. Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds. It will turn off and you should have no lights at all unless you have the AC connected.

Turn it on back again and it should be fine.

Check your power options under control panel and see the options for sleep or hibernate and disable it so that it wont happen again.

Hope this helps.

Compaq presario v6101uswont boot not even start up screen

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.

Does cq61 laptop works without battery

I would assume that the wire/power supply is more likely to be the problem. Even if the battery is completely shot, most laptops will start if the power cord is plugged into the outlet and the laptop is turned on. You should check on replacing the power supply / power cord. Buy it from a store that takes returns with no questions asked. I've even bought one, tested it in the store, (after asking in advance if I could do so). This is a good idea if you live 40 miles from the place it's purchased.

Compaq presario cq61 won't turn on

hi
i wonder if the mainboard has suffered a power failure due to power shortage through electrical system that it was connected to . if the lights do not appear on the media strip below the video panel and above the keyboard, that would indicate a power failure has resulted from the power supply burn out. That being said the mainboard has suffered a electrical sudden power down. Have you tried the AC adapter to ensure it works ? I would need the entire model number and S/N of the notebook to get some feedback from HP

Charge your battery, it's empty. If you get this message even after you have charged it then the battery has aged and it can no longer hold its charge so you must replace it.

When this happens, you may be dealing with a power adapter that has gone bad. Check to see if it's putting out the required voltage ~18-19 volts.
You could be dealing with a broken DC-in jack. This can be fixed, but with difficulty (it involves soldering on the motherboard.
You might have to replace the motherboard. First try to start the computer with the adapter connected, but the batter taken out. If it starts and works, then it's a bad battery.
