Cuisinat DLC 8 Plus Bowl won't unlock

Sounds like the Motor's Start Capacitor needs replacing. It gives the motor a big jolt of power to get it running.

The DLC-8F bowl will not work for the DLC-8M, as I understand the parts list for the 11 cup food processors. However, this site, https://www.kitchenworksinc.com/cuisinart-dlc-8-4-piece-tritan-bowl-kit/ , has a work bowl for the DLC-8 food processor. Use a ball-point pen to depress the button - your finger simply will not do.

This is only to test the motor.

Once it makes the proper sound, you are ready to assemble the workbowl - once properly assembled, the workbowl, lid, and pusher itself will push the button for you. On the DLC-2011, the proper assembly is for the work bowl handle to be locked toward the front of the processor. If you are still having trouble or you have a model other than the DLC-2011, call Cuisinart at 1-800-726-0190 and they will help you with the assembly.

I had the same problem: Cuisinart sent a "replacement" sheath for my DLC-8E which turned out to be the wrong one. When I replaced mine,which was cracked, none of my blades would fit over the new sheath! I "solved" the problem by purchasing a new DLC-8E motor base on Ebay for only $9.99!

I don't recognize model #PLE-8E, but if you have a DLC-8E, while you can't get the original parts from Cuisinart, you can get a whole bowl/pusher/lid that will operate your old base. I also see a few auctions for the original DLC-8 series parts, but there is some asterisk by each of them - they will work, but they have a chip somewhere, etc. But, I would keep your eye on eBay - I picked up many a good Cuisinart item at a bargain price.

Generally they twist off, but on the DLC-2, if the lid won't come off, a replacement bowl and lid is around $18.00

Have you tried removing the lid first? Mine has an interlock where I have to remote the lid before I can unlock the bowl from the machine. Good luck!

I just had the same problem! I gently tapped the the bottom of the handle with a hammer in a clockwise direction. It finally unlocked and is now working fine. Good luck!
