Can send faxes out, but cannot recieve incoming faxes
A couple of days ago the work fax machine stopped recieving incoming faxes and also would not send out going faxes. Either way the report sheet would say the line was busy..rather it be an incoming or out going...
I unplugged both power and phone line for 5 or 10 minutes, plugged it back in and it now will send faxes out, but still will not recieve them and after talking to someone trying to send us one they said the message sheet they get on thier fax after they try to send us one says our line is busy and in reality it is not busy

Did you plug a phone into the phone jack and see if there is a dial tone?
Thats the first place to start.
After that let me know, and I will give you more ideas.
Sounds like a phone line issue

My incoming fax issue was resolved when I enabled the answering machine function on my phone. All this time my answering machine was turned off. I have yet to send a fax. My model is the Canon Pixma MX452.
Are you sharing your home phone line with your fax? If so, do you have a voicemail or an answering machine connected in the same line?
If you have an answering machine connected to the same
line as the fax, set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the
printer does. Increase the number of rings by a factor of 3 over the answering
machine. For example, if the answering machine is set to pick up on 4 rings,
set the printer to pick up on 7 rings.
If you have a voicemail feature in the same line as the
fax, you may subscribe from your phone service provider for a distinctive ring
pattern feature. You can program your printer to have a distinctive ring
pattern and phone number for incoming faxes.
Does the machine actually answer the incoming call? If so does it give an error code? Are you using the genuine brother line lead? Finally make sure the line lead is plugged into the "line" socket and not the "tel" socket.
Make sure there is a dial tone on the phone reciever. If there is not check the connections, the cord could be damaged or disconnected. If there is, check the Recieve mode.
Incoming faxes automatically go into memory. We can't print them out. Would like incoming faxes to print out as they used to. have tried the on off button but it didn't fix the problem
The only reason why your unit stops printin faxes is because the toner cartridge is nearly empty. Th e unit will then try to conserve the remaining toner for printing and copying. Follow this steps to program the unit to print all faxes, even with toner low:
When the toner cartridge is nearly empty, the machine shows
the “[Toner Empty]” message and continues printing except
incoming faxes. In this case, incoming faxes are saved in
memory.
However, you can set the machine to print incoming faxes, even
though print quality is not optimal.
1 Press Menu until “Machine Setup” appears on the display.
2 Press the scroll button ( or ) until “Ignore Toner”
appears on the bottom line and press Enter.
3 Press the Scroll button ( or ) to select “On” or “Off”.
Select “On” to ignore the [Toner Empty] message.
Select “Off” to stop printing incoming faxes when the
message appears. This is the default setting.
4 Press Enter to save the selection.
5 To return to Standby mode, press Stop/Clear.
Your Line Interface Unit (L.I.U.) is bad. The part # is C9138-60001. Google for part availability.
1 Open or remove the left side door. 2 Remove one screw at the left of the formatter board.
3 Disconnect the flat flexible cable from the connector.
4 Rotate the LIU around the hooks to remove.
