I have an ibm R51 and the radio is off and it keeps telling me to turn it on to use wireless but never works.

Look for the wireless on/off switch of the wireless adapter. Usually it is located infront of the computer right beside the LED indicators. Make sure that the switch is in ON position. If not infront, look on the side. You can also enable/disable the wireless network card by pressing Fn + F5.

Disable boot up password in R51

You could open up the R51 and remove the CMOS battery. This would reset the password.

Here is a link I found that allows one to hack the BIOS password:

Or try this fixya thread:

IBM R51 and is having a problem at startup

try removing all the memory modules on the system, usually you'll get beeps. if you do get a beep try one memory module at a time see if you get something on the screen, observe also the lights on the system see if they would stay on or blink or flash. its rare that a virus would attack the BIOS, more-likely a bad motherboard or harddrive can be prevent the computer from starting up. hit me back on the results. thanks!

My IBM r51 is not able to start whenever I try to start the machine a strange beep sound comes out of somewhere from the processor the battery indicator flashes for a secong and is dead after the beep...

Good day!
If you hear a long beepsound it is the memory problem. It may be dirty. You remove it and clean. Use eraser to clean the gold pins. If you hear a continues sound it is a mother board problem. Try to check the connections because it might be the processor doesnt work properly. It may need cleaning. Try to check also your power button. Press it properly. Sometimes it has dirt inside the button thats why no connection to your power button.
Try to post any result so that I can give you more trouble shooting tips.
