Vs-5043 Hi,I went from what appeared to be a convergence problem to a HV problem. After replacing the STK packs (which went quite smoothe),I fired up the TV and have sound and tuner only. The 3 guns do not light. What did I do wrong?

There are a few low value 1-watt flameproof resistors in the convergence yoke circuits. They typically range from 1 to 3 ohms. An open resistor will cause the respective color to be non-responsive. Also chack that you have the convergence yokes re-connected to the correct connectors on the board.

Your chassis is a VZ3 that chassis should use two STK 391-020 ICs Its an easy repair Mitsubishi usually will not blow resistors when the ICs go out. You can get the replacement ICs at the following link and they provide free step by step instructions with pictures so if you have even basic soldering skills this isa job you can do in about 30 minutes . Convergence

1) Repair convergence circuit = replace STK IC's

2) Reset alignment with customer controls

3) Internal alignment,if needed.................................T.

PS. Major hand re-solder will be needed when chassis is out.

Yes,but first it is necessary to repair the problem = replace
both STK392-570 IC's.............Then use remote to adjust
convergence............."inside the tv" is called servicer menu = adjust after repair is complete.You can expect to replace IC's
every five years or so.......................T.

PS Try to match your problem thread model # to actual model #
ie. VS-5043 does not match WS-65909........T.

Convergence IC

The convergence IC's are black in color with white lettering on them and will start with STK. These IC's will be standing up and be about 2" X3" in diameter. These IC's will also be mounted up against a large metal device called a heat sink. good Luck

Possible Convergence

I would suspect you have several capacitors drifting out of tolerance as they warm up. When checking for these, also make sure to change The value Of C813 (33uf 16v) To (10uf 50v) if it hasn't been done already. You'll need a technican with a capacitor meter and ESR tester to find the marginal capacitors. I doubt that any of your STK packs (IC's) on your convergence module are defective. I'm also assuming that the tapping with the wooden stick didn't change anything, otherwise a bad solder connection could be the culprit.

Mitsubishi VS-5041 (TV turns on but no pic or sound)

Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck
