Replacing the door handle, now both the interior and exterior handle don't work. What came loose? The mechanism/hook that holds the pin on the frame to keep the door shut, has a small piece above it that's supposed to move up with the door handle opening. It doesn't now

try to remove your door panel and check to see if your latch is still connected. some times the rods will drop off. That or your catch on the door itself has come loose and dropped down enough to cause the door to stick and will not open from both inside or out

most common problem with replacing door handles on these is that you will encounter allignment probs for main catch which this sounds like. if you attempt to open from the inside then try putting lots of pressure on it till it should give way. once you acvhieve this, try looking at the very end of the door with the catch on. if you take a key and roll the latch till it locks and lake sure it is not too far into the mechanism, dont worry simply pulling door handle will disengage it, but once it is shut like this it is extremely difficult to undo.

you will need to get the door panel off the inside, undo the linkages and the remove the nuts holding the handle on.
