Question about Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Dimage z1 Up until now, my camera worked fine! I turned it on yesterday and the message "unable to use card" appeared. I thought maybe the card became corrupt so I put in a new card and the same message appeared. I have already tried reformatting it and nothing happened. Do you have a solution???

I have the same issue and am trying to fix it myself. The suggested solution seems to be reformatting, but making sure that you use FAT format and not FAT32 which is selected by default. I will try this myself later Aodh.

Dimage camera unable to use card

What type and size memory card are you trying to use? The Z1 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher capacity SDHC cards, even though they fit into the slot.

I am getting an "unable

Try formatting the card with the 'Format' function in the camera menu.
If you read the manual you can can find which card types are supported.

I have a Konica minolta with 512 MB memory. How much more memory of SDhc/SD card can it use as it is unable to use 4GB SDHC card. Thanks.

The Z1 uses SD cards, which top out at 2GB. SDHC cards do not work with this camera, as you've already found out.

I bought 4GB SD card for minolta dimage Z1, but error comes UNABLE TO USE CARD....I read in the fourms that this camera does not support 4GB cards... right?

Your camera came out in 2003, before SDHC cards were invented. Chances are, the 4G card you're trying to use is not an SD but an SDHC card and won't work in your camera.

What size sd card can i use in a dimage z1

You may use any size SD card. Bear in mind that SD cards max out at 2GB. Larger cards are actually SDHC cards and won't work in the Z1.

Minolta dimage z1 digital camera freezes after taking one photo, can only be unfrozen by taking out and putting back in batteries.

Sometimes Z1 displays an hourglass icon and pretends it hangs. In such case you have to wait a while (sometimes quite long).

If it hangs without any signal for a user, I'm afraid there is some fault in electronics. Try to recognise if your card is OK and if the "last" photo is correctly saved. Maybe then you'll get some idea.

I had such phenomen a few times (out of tens of thousands of pictures). I always removed batteries and after that the camera was fully operational.

Unable to use card

The memory card needs to be formatted by the camera. The card can be formatted in section 1 of the playback menu. Formatting will erase all data from the card. You can download the manual on the following link: http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/digital_cameras/dimage-z/dimage_z1/D_Z1_E.pdf

Camera won't turn on

Turn the camera off. Take out the card. Take out the battery. Put in the card. Put in the battery. Turn the camera on.
