Try the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Try the steps below if check disk did not solve it.

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoever when you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you was operating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cord is bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the power cord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the battery out) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can put the battery back in and let it charge.

Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Flashing amber light

Hi, on most Dells a flashing amber light on the power button indicates a problem with the PSU or a short on the main power rail, if this is the case you should have 2 flashing lights as well, 1 & 3.

I have an American Pro amp V.S.-1406. It has the amber lights on inside but no green power light. I am almost positive that everything is hooked up correctly but it just won't work. No sound. Good...

If you have no power light on or its not green or the color it's suppose to be when working properly then it's in protect mode. First unplug everything except the power wires and see if any of the lights change from amber. Being the color is amber this means its in protect. if still no green light for power or what color it's supose to be when working properly then you have an internal problem. Mostlikey the powersupply mosfets and/or the output transistors or mosfets. I have to look up this amp to see what it has for outputs. With a good ground and positive power wire hooked up, your amp has some shorted components. I own a small business repairing, selling, and installing car audio. I am MECP certified also I'm an electronics engineer and have designed 2 mono sub amps that sold very well. Saving up to have more built again. I have 20 years experience now so I have been doing this for a very longtime. My pricest are the cheapest and my work is professional. I do it cheap cause I'm tired of seeing people getting ripped off at allot of places and my overhead is'nt high. I also offer services that no one else does and I offer online video help to help a person test certain components berfore sending an amp in, or over the phone. If you need help just contact me through here and I will send my info. I get allot of business through this site and diycaraudio.com plus a few other sites. Hope this helps. I will look up your amp if I can find a manual to see what color the lights on it should be when working properly. Being amber though, in my experience that means it's in protect. Do what I asked first to rule out bad subs or RCA's causing it to go into protect.

Hi... amber light stays on, machine won't work

Be sure the bar code is clean and the reader screen it rests on is clean as well. I found if the coffee maker leaked some coffee or milk within the unit it sometimes covered the bar code or reader and prevented the machine from reading the code.

I'm not clear about the blinking amber light you are referring to. Is it on the computer or the monitor.
I checked Dell's web site for the service manual for this computer model, & found this document:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8300/sm/adtshoot.htm#1102195

If the blinking amber light is on the monitor, check the connection between it & the computer itself. Make sure the cable is not damaged & that it does not have any broken pins in the socket.

I don't know if this will help but a service manual is here to purchase this may explain what the amber light is for, though normally an amber light signifies standby mode

Amp c352 TI 1515456 failure

It sounds like yo shorted the speaker wires together for a short time and smoked the output section of the amp. The amber light is an indication that the amp is in protect mode. If you attempt to power up the amp and still have the amber light even with all speaker wires disconnected, the amp needs repair. The output transistors for that side will need to be replaced.
