Question about Insignia D300a PC Desktop

1 Answer

Help!! i just hooked a hub up from two of my computers, and my insignia shows a problem with the ethernet controller driver. It shows that it is not installed (code 28) and I cannot find it when I search for it. I cannot connect to the internet from that computer, and I do not have any cd's. I bought the computer secondhand. Can anyone help?

I don't physically know that it it there. Where would I look once the computer is opened? I know that I uninstalled the ethernet controller like the troubleshooter said to, and after I restarted.. the ethernet controller popped up as a plug and play device, but I still couldn't get the driver. I found the driver online, and burned it to a disc, put the disk in the insignia computer and still it couldn't locate the driver.

there is not a 'network adapters' on my computer. It only said 'other devices' under that are my multimedia controller (which has a yellow ?, and a !). Then there is also the ethernet controller (which has a yellow ? and a red X)

If you physically know that the card is there, then you will have to look at the network card and look at the manufacturers name on the chip on top of the card. You can then either post it back here or search yourself on the net for a driver. Although just make sure it is enabled, Go into hardware, then device manager in my computer properties or control panel and look down the list at 'network adapters'. Click the '+' sign adn check that your wreless adapter has not got a yellow!(exclamation mark) next to it, if so it's a driver error.

An ethernet card, you can see from the rear of the pc, it will have a female socket similair to a phone socket, this can be built into the motherboard or a seperate PCI card similair to a modem.

If you have found a network adapter in your devices in device manager, then the '!' means there is no driver and the 'red x' means that it is dissabled (right click on it and click enable).

The multi media controller may well be your dial up modem which you won't need if your on broadband or cable.

If it is built into the motherboard (if so it will be located near your speaker input) the drivers will be on your motherboard driver cd or recovery cd.

If it is an 'add on' PCI network card it will be situated where the oblong removable slats are at the bottom of your pc.

You can take the side of pc off and look at the body of the card and it will have the manufacturer on it so as to get the drivers.

Im heving a proplem with my computer ethernet controller computer model name is dell optiplex gx60 ive searched the internet an can not find a free lan driver for my ethernet controller

Hi there! You can actually download the drivers on Dell's website. You can either use the model number or use the Service Tag on your Optiplex Computer to show all the drivers for your computer.

I was able to browse to their site, and was able to list down all the drivers for your computer. Click here to get into their website.

You would still need to select the appropriate Operating System for your computer to download the compatible driver for your ethernet controller.

Hope this helps!

I just bought a laptop computer and I already had a desktop. My internet provider is Hugesnet Satelite. I bought a Netgear N600 wireless dual band router thinking I could just hook it up to my desktop...

The HN9000 should have an ethernet port. You will require two ethernet cables to connect the desktop to the router.
1. Connect the ethernet cable from the Modem to the Ethernet Input port on the Router (It is generally placed away from the other ports on the back of the router.) 2. Connect another ethernet cord from one of the output ports on the router to the desktop computer. 3. On the laptop, turn on your wireless card. The process for this differs from computer to computer. If you were to provide the model of laptop, I could provide you specific instructions. 4. The network setup should be complete.

I just got this dynex 4 port ethernet hub and i have comcast wired internet . and i want to hook it up to my xbox 360 and my computer but , it wont let me . when i try to get xbox live it says network...

Hi,

You need a router not a hub or a switch. with the help of the router you can share the comcast cable internet on multiple devices. A hub or a switch can not do this.

Get it replaced with a router. You can buy Linksys or Netgear router.

5 port network hub

Connect the power supply.
connect the ethernet cable from your router (or the box that your isp gave you to get the internet connection) to the port labeled "Uplink" on the hub.
Connect the ethernet cable from your computer or another device to be connected to any of the ports 1 to 4. Do not use port 5 (that port is used to "chain" another hub)
Please be aware that a network hub is basically a very simple device that will not assign an internal ip number to your devices or computer, and if you have two or more devices or computers, you do need that either your "modem" (the device that is installed by your isp) is capable of handling more than one computer, or you will also need something to act as a router (your computer can do it, but you will need to know how to set up that).
Hope it helps

How do you hook up a Dynex Ethernet Hub

If your hub has 4 or 5 connectors, connect one port to your router. This device will NOT work when connected to your cable modem, as the hub does not manage IP addresses like a router does. Hope this helps ... the remaining ports will feed internet, but not provide Internet addresses to a computer.
