No Power Hi, I tried to install a Kenmore 42701 to my existing cable harness from a previous cooktop (120V AC), but the unit won't turn on. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Catriver, thanks for your response. The model number is 911.42701100. I measured the voltage at the terminals and the reading was 120VAC. But the cooktop didn't get any power.

    Thanks.

You're right Catriver. I measured the wires and got 120V from each outer terminals to center but nothing across the 2 outer terminals. That must be the problem then. Do you think my stripper is broken? Thanks.

Brown, you need 220V going to this cooktop. Check the installation manual. The voltage requirements should be in there. On the terminal block where the power connects you should have 120V from each end to center and 240V across the two outer terminals...Catriver..post back.

From my experience, most cooktop manufacturers give cutout dimensions that almost always need modifications to get the screws or nuts on the stove to fit the cutout. Have your granite fabricator come enlarge the opening by grinding specifically where there is interference. They should be able to tent off your granite and use a vacuum to minimize dust.

Unit on light stays on when unit is off

You need to check the switches. If no problems with the switches it is in the circuit for the indicator light. This is easy to check and the parts are inexpensive. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that will walk you thru performing these checks.

hi my name is mark, a service tech needs to check the voltage to the cook top. you will probably find improper voltage. check data plate for proper voltage should be 208v or 230v depending onwhere you live.

Cooktop light stays on when cool

the "hot top" indicator lamp is switched by a contact on the plate cut-out. sometimes this cut-out is available as a separate part but often must fit complete plate. by plate i mean the bit that gets hot!
