Question about Whirlpool LSN1000LW Top Load Washer

Washer will not drain

This may be a strange one! Washer starts, and agitates. When the timer gets to the drain portition, it will not drain the tub. I was able to put a small screwdriver in the back of the timer, and "help" the timer click to the drain cycle, and it drains, and runs the balance of the cycle. I assumed it was just a bad timer (FSP3953317) and ordered a new one. I put the new timer in and have the same problem? I can again access the back of the timer and help the timer make the drain cycle, and all is well. No problem draining once the cycle starts, the tub drains fine. Is it possible that I received a new bad timer? I am not sure what else could cause this?

KenmorenLaunry center not draining or advancing cycles

Hi David if the timer is not cycling the tub will not drain ,the washer will not complete cycles, second check the lock switch on the door. this can stop the timer and the tub from draining. when not cycling the timer is at fault , this could be two problems, 1st when everything stops check the door safety switch , 2nd listen for the timer, if it stops running. good luck ,geodaws

Nmy drain pump hums but does not pump

Top-load washing machine motors can be started in either direction. This is done by reversing the current flow through the start winding. In one direction, the machine agitates the load; in the other direction, it spins the tub and pumps water out.

I assume the tub is not spinning. If that is so, I would suspect you have a bad timer contact for the spin/drain connection to the start winding and starter capacitor. The winding and capacitor presumably are good since the washer agitates normally.

Some timers can be serviced by cleaning the contacts in question. However, if the contact metal is severely pitted and burned, you should replace the unit.

Kenmore 90 series washer. As the tub tries to

Hi,
It sounds like you have a bad timer. If you change the position of the timer and it does not change what is going on the the timer has to be bad. However I am not certain what you mean by the agitator turns all the time. Is it agitating while spinning and draining?

Frigidaire (LTF2940E) Washer starts, stops, starts, stops...

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

gabehart....sounds like belt is slipping. Replace it. The water pump is on a separate smaller motor so is not affected by the agitator/spin motor.
