This is a problem for the latest release - the GB9. Upon running the install.exe I receive some errors part way through the installation. Twice 'DrvInstall' reports an error 'Failed to Install (GetClassDevs)'. The 'Kenwood Media Application' can then be run, it lists my local library and contents of the 'PD' (the single demo tune), but when attempting to synchronise content no files are transferred although no errors are reported. I assume this is due to the drivers not being installed properly. When using Windows Media Player 11 and scanning for devices I am told that a device is using an outdated driver (I assume it has detected the HD30GB9 but can't use it). The hard drive of the HD30GB9 is visible as a drive letter, and I can copy / paste / modify the files directly as a mapped drive, but none of the songs are visible to the player in its normal 'play' mode. I am using Windows XP SP2, with device connected to a USB1.1 port. Any ideas?

This error usually occurred when the player is removed unsafely from the computer... Make sure to use the "the safe hardware removal ". In order to fix it, try to format the player with the original CD-ROM? it will fix it. Be aware that it will erase every data on the player. sorry. Good luck.

There is often confusion in the way the manual states how to achieve removing demo mode. Because this is listed in the "Menu System" section of the manual and assumes you read from page 1 of the manual that you will know to enter the menu in this section of the manual. Here is step by step instructions on removing demo mode on your unit. 1. Go to standby mode 2. Press and hold the menu button till the menu comes up 3. Press control knob towards AM or FM to scroll through menu till you locate "Demo On" 4. Press control knob straight in for approximately 3 seconds till it switches to "Demo Off" 5. Hit menu button again to exit menu
OK WHAT I DID IS...THE FIRST TIME I USED MY HD20GA7 I HAD TO CONNECT IT TO THE COMPUTER WITH THE USB CABLE TO SYNC. The Windows Installer Service is required to install Spy Sweeper/Webroot AntiVirus 5.8 or Spy Sweeper/Webroot AntiVirus/Webroot Internet Security Essential
6.1. However, by Microsoft's design, the Windows Installer in not
available in Safe Mode. On rare occasions Safe Mode installation is
still desirable, so Webroot has engineered a method to make this
possible. This method uses a file called "SafeCore.exe".
the installation is performed using "Safe Mode with Networking" and an
active internet connection is available, the Version Guard feature of
our installer will automatically download and run SafeCore.exe. No
action on the part of the user is required. Otherwise SafeCore.exe will
need to manually be placed in the same folder as the standard Webroot
if the installer file is already on the Windows desktop, copy
SafeCore.exe to the desktop as well, and then run the Webroot
AntiVirus/Spy Sweeper/Webroot Internet Security Essentials 5.8/6.0
installer to begin the installation process).
obtain a copy of SafeCore.exe, please first check what version of the
Webroot software you are trying to install. Right click on the installer
and choose Properties, and then click on the Version tab. A File version will be listed.
If the file version is different than the two listed above, please contact Webroot Technical Support for an alternative option.
the computer you are trying to install on does not have a network
connection, it may be required to transfer this file from one machine to
another using removable media such as a USB drive or CD-ROM.
If installing Spy Sweeper/Webroot AntiVirus/Webroot Internet Security Essentials 6.0, the Backup Component may not install completely in Safe Mode since it contains components that require the Windows Installer Service to install completely. You will need to re-run the installation in normal mode to activate the Backup component.
Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
The NO DATA or FORMAT ERROR message may occur if the portable player has been formatted using the format utility in Windows Explorer. To correct this issue, initialize (format) the portable player using the Initialize or Format utility built into your Walkman player.
Reset the unit by pressing the RESET button with a small object such as a paper clip.
If the issue persists, I suggest that you un-install and reinstall the latest version of the Sonic Stage Software and transfer the songs again to resolve the issue. Click here to download the latest version of the SonicStage Software.
This should resolve the issue.
