SOURCE: being on for while color goes makes humming sound when turned on
Your color wheel is most likely the culprit. Mine also started humming and and it got louder and more annoying.
You could try cleaning it with an air can, but it sounds like it needs replacing.
I replaced mine myself last week and it works great!
Unfortunately, the site I bought mine from is now out of stock. for the 51" Vivitek I have, but they may have yours since they had parts for the 56" as well.
http://www.vancebaldwin.com was the site I went to.Login as guest and then type model number into corresponding box and see if they are in stock.
I changed mine myself and would be glad to give any help I can.
Good luck!

Hi ryser,
Pop sound is coming from the parts either on the ballast board(lamp's driver) or power supply(ballast board supply). It means that you're bulb is not the issue that's why you've not encountered the led lamp indicator. Check the ballast board for faulty electrolytic capacitor, blown fuse/fusible resistor, shorted ballast transformer. Also check the power supply parts like bulged electrolytic capacitor, shorted voltage regulator transistor. If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for an experienced technician to troubleshoot the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
