You can use a curtain as a room divider but I don't recommend itbecause curtains collect dust. Also, room dividers are a great way to make a small room feel bigger where arecurtains just close the room off.

What are blackout curtains used for?

The insulated blackout curtain making it a perfect sleeping solution for baby rooms, office, computer rooms, and bedrooms. Even if your existing panels are not that wide, you can loop one or two extra rings into the grommet to reduce the gap. Cool hack, isn't it? The rings you get with the drapes aren't rust-proof but they are solid enough to get the basic job done. The material, upon touching, is soft and lightweight. However, it is thick enough to prevent harsh sunlight from peeping into the room.

How can I use a curtain to work as a room divider? I want to make a space for my art area that is separate to the lounge.

You can attach a curtain rail to the ceiling and hang a curtain, which doesn't have to be heavy or a dark color. Sometimes even the physical act of a curtain is enough to divide a space without taking any of the natural light away from the room.
