The word HI is blinking and the camera is frozen with the zoom out and the flash out. Tried taking batteries out and turning off, but it does not respond. What's the problem?

I have the same problem with the word HI blinking and camera is frozen. Taking battery out and replacing does not solve problem.Automatically rewinding the film and removing it will unfreeze the camera but you will loose any photos that were on the roll of film. I cannot find my owners manual to see if this problem is addressed.

SOURCE: Pentax K100D will not power up

First make sure you are using fresh lithium batteries. These cameras indicate low batteries quite early on. Rechargeables even when freshly charged are marginal.

If the problem persists remove the batteries. Set the camera switch to the off position. Set the focus switch to manual. Wait at least a minute. Then replace the batteries and switch on again.

Operating with low batteries can confuse the firmware and it may be stuck in a low-battery loop. If this is the case this should reset the camera by allowing the electronics to power-down completely.

If this does not work you wiil have to contact pentax support.

SOURCE: AV error whn pentax ist DL & Quantaray zoom lens attached

I've got the same problem. The problem is that the lense is loosely attached to the body. What you need to do is that when you see the Av flashing, press the lense of the camera to the body and twist the lense to the left a bit. This tightens the connection. You can then take the photo.

I need a user Manual for ESPIO 160 Pentax camera

The ESPIO 160 is called the IQZoom 160 in some parts of the world. You may download a copy of the IQZoom 160 manual here.

I have acquired a Pentax IQZoom 700 as a gift. I'm not sure what kind of batteries it takes though, as it did not come with a manual. Can anyone help me?

The IQ-Zoom 700 uses two 3V Lithium batteries (CR-123A or DL-123A). You can order a new manual for $8 from Pentax: http://www.pentaximaging.com/support/manuals-and-literature/ . Use the drop down menus to select your model.

I hope this helps.

I have a Pentax IQZoom 160 and it has error code U3 when I turn it on. The flash and zoom try to deploy several times but only the flash comes out.

If the 'U' disappears when the zoom lever is moved your camera is ready to use. It may be defective if it comes up often.

Hi,
Go to the camera store and buy an old fashion film change bag so you can take the film out of the camera and roll the film back on the spool. The bag is light proof.

Can't take pictures.

Guest,

pentax codes are in repair manuals, not instruction manuals. H3 indicates shutter failure. this means anything from the flex circuit on the zoom barrel ( inside ) to the shutter itself. camera needs repaired.

What does HI or H1 mean?

This is a zoom error code - the flexible circuit going to the shutter in the barrel is probably worn out. It'll have to go to a repair shop.

Loaded film, but won't work and a "3" is flashing.

The IQ Zoom cameras are designed to display error codes (E0, E2, E9, E10, E1A, E37, E90, HL, H4, H5, etc.) when something goes wrong internally with one of the mechanisms or electronic components. These diagnostic displays help to determine where the problem is. When you see an error code, ask a qualified PENTAX repair technician to examine the camera. For information on a specific error code, call Pentax customer service department toll-free at 1-800-877-0155, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, Mountain Standard Time.
