Fax document jam

I have a Panasonic KX-FL511 laser fax. It draws the paper to be copied into the machine and then copies perfectly. When I try to send a fax, it draws the paper to be faxed in about 1 inch, stops and proceeds to tell me there is a document jam. Why am I only having this problem while trying to fax a document? Help Please!!!!! I tried just now and I dialed 3 times to fax. Each time it took in the paper a little farther and when the third try dialed up it took in the sending document and faxed completed to destination. Why????????

Also have the same problem today, called the "help" line 800 435 7329,
her command of the english language and her tech support just added to the problem. She first suggested that I clean the rollers with alcohol, she asked it as if I had a bottle of achohol just sitting @ my desk, so I cleaned them, (after finding a bottle) - cleaning didn't do anything - then she said to locate the "cork and white plastic piece under the tray, I couldn't find it, she really wasn't more help in locating this, so I said thanks and hung up. Later this morning I proceeded to examine the unit further I found it not under the tray but on top of the inner tray . I played with it somewhat pushing it up against the part it was attached to, that at least allowed me to send the fax I needed to send. I'll call them back and see what the next step was supposed to be, now that I know where the part is. So as you can see this cork/plastick part is the cause of the "document jam"

The document feeder rollers could be dirty. Try cleaning them with a lint-free cloth (not paper) and some alcohol. A commercial platen cleaner is best if you can buy some.

Document jammed

It sounds as through the paper jam sensor is either dusty so needs a clean, or the sensor has stopped working totally & needs replacing, if this item is still under warrentee I would call the company for the repair, if not a local computer repair company will be able to assist you further, most offer a free quotation service if you ask...

I do hope this helps resolve your problem, if you could reply & let me know the outcome, many thanks...
