My freezer keeps icing over into a solid block, and it stops working

Model # MSD2554ARA The ice in the ice maker starts to come out wet, that's how I know the unit is starting to freeze. Then the back of the freezer compartment is covered in a layer of frost. When I remove the back, the metal freezer unit is a solid block of ice.

Possibly the drain is plugged or the drain line, which runs down from freezer on back of unit, to the drip pan underneath. U can blow it out with compressed air

GE side by side refrigerator-freezer daily makes loud grrrrrnng noise. Sporadic. Comes from area just above ice maker. Makes no difference if I turn ice maker off. Any ideas what is causing this?

Many ice maker sporadically turn to keep ice from freezing together and becoming a solid block of ice. This would occur even if the ice maker is turned off in order to keep the ice already made from freezing. It is generally short and not that loud. I'm surprised you find it disturbing.

Ice maker not working

I do not have your exact model, but I had this problem. There is a timer that periodically defrosts the freezer. For me it was near the compressor unit at the top and super accessible. When the timer stops working the fins in the cooler in the freezer become a block of ice and starts to do a bad job keeping things frozen. But it becomes noticeable when the ice maker stops as well for some reason. I learned it is super easy to replace the timer after a repairman estimated three ours of labor and was done in literally 20 minutes including cleanup.

I have a GE GSH25JFTA CC refrigerator and it is not cooling properly. What should I check or replace?

Depending how long the power was off you may have an ice blockage in the freezer. Normal cooling causes the freezer coils to build up frost and snow coating all over the coils. A normal defrost cycle melts that frost/snow off and keeps the coils clear so the fans can move air through the coils.During the power outage the frost may have started to melt wetting the snow. If the refrigerator then came on and re-froze the wet frost/snow into a solid block of ice, the normal defrost cycle would not be able to clear that solid ice out. So it may be blocking the air flow. Remove freezer back panel and see if there is ice back there. If yes--use something like a hair dryer to melt everything out until it is completely clear. Make sure the fans are running also.

GE Profile PSS26PSTA SS freezer problem

Forget the warranty - it is only for the compressor and that is usually five years. Did you check for freezer temp - wet cubes indicates too warm up there. Water dispenser lines may be clogged.

If low temps you may have low refrigerant or a defrost mechanism not working - if not working there should be ice buildup on line entering the evaporator in back of compartment.

Remove door and icemaker from bottom freezer model 59673914200 -- icemaker wont turn

The ice maker switch had come unattached due to excess ice buildup, and frozen to the ice pack. The ice in the ice maker had also frozen into a solid block due to not being able to rotate. After removing the drawer trays and protecting the frozen food, turning off the refridgerator, I used a hair drier to melt and remove the ice from the ice maker, gave it time to dry out, -- No gears wer stripped,- the ice maker now works normally.
