Question about Hitachi 51F500 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Dots on screen

I have 51" Hitachi Projection that is about 4 years old. It is has three dots on the screen, yellow, red and blue. Any help greatly appreciated. Hoping somebody will know the solution so I can get an idea of how much the repair cost will be, if any, unless it is something I can do or can it be repaired through the menu of the T.V. I have already tried the magic focus. Once again thanks in advance.

Yes, the picture seems normal, but they are not there constantly. Somedays there some not. They are off to the side, does this mean the crt's are still bad or are going bad. How difficult to do this myself.

    Thank you

Is the picture normal otherwise and those dots in the center? If so you have three burned CRT's.

pjordan133,

Your convergence circuit is bad. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4220499-change_projection_tv_convergence_ics which explains the problem, where to get the best quality parts at a good price and how to perform the repair.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Please consider a testimonial. Thank you.

All color guns out of alignment

Needs convergence amps replaced. Sometimes resistors burn and need to be replaced. This repair requires soldering/desoldering equip. and a trained eye, but usually can be done for 175.00-325.00 at a reputable service center. Good luck, Russmann.

Blue haze on hitachi 51" tv

I finally emailed Hitachi about the blue haze and since my televison is only 16 months old they agreed to pay for the part (they didn't say what part) and I will have to pay the service charge. The repairman is coming out on 2 Apr 08. I will post results after that.
