now,here is some EXPERT ADVICE! when at flea markets,buy every remote control you find and sell them for 35 bucks a piece on ebay!!

Because this is a fused part (lcd and digitizer) you will have to buy a new screen assembly. BUT before you do that open the the iPod back up and verify that both connectors are properly seated.

If it all looks okay and still does not work then you probably bought a bad screen.

The touch screen in most cases will need to be replaced because it developes a short in the membrane making it inoperative. Since you have a remote and you have full access I recommend using it the way it is. However if you wish to track down the part, ebay is a good source for parts and may have what you are looking for.

You may not be able to buy a replacement original remote for it, but a universal remote may work - it is then a matter of code (if needed) to operate most of the basic functions of your combo. You could always look on eBay amazon, or ask your local store about the universal remote. Logitech are the best universal remotes on the market - these range from basic types to all-in-one, with the price of each varying. You should be able to buy something like that locally (similar brand to Logitech which will serve the same purpose) - if Sanyo won't put an order for the original remote in for you.

The best and cheapest option would be to buy an all4one remote these operate everything from tv to dvd to sky ,cable ,stereo etc you can buy these for next to nothing from any major super market or diy store these can be programmed to work just about anything and cost next to nothing. Buying an original can cost ten times as much as one4all remote "one4all" is about the best make of multi remotes and this make usually works on any type of dvd or tv so give it a try it will save you loads of money.
Also a good thing to have incase another remote stops working so it would save you buying another remote again
