Indesit gas cooker, odd smell

If you're talking about the acrid smell immediately after starting the oven, that's aldehyde gas, a byproduct of cold gas combustion where the flame contacts the cold metal oven surfaces. That smell should disappear within the first minute or two, and it's entirely normal for a gas oven. If you're talking instead about the smell of fuel gas, then your burner may need to be adjusted; it may be running much too "rich".

I would contact indesit on there tech help line .Its on line on there site

it could be the thermocouple, you can get uiversal thermocoulpe from mmost plumbers merchants , b and q etc.fairly easy to fit ,any probs drdrop me a line

did you change the reg as well as the jets

If it has a digital or anologue timer, make sure it is set on manual, or the oven will not work.

man that is an old oven, according to the diagram ther is a pilot light in the oven compartment , access form the lower drawer/ cover panel, looks like a pilot for sure and problably has blown out

usual cause of fumes is if the grill is in the oven, when for example a roast is done, fat spits onto the grill element and the circular element and smokes. if you leave it on, the smoke will clear. some ovens have a fat guard which clips over the grill in the centre of the back panel to prevent this.
to clean glass, just use scouring pads - glass is virtually impossible to scratch

its just your heater element you will need to wright down your model number and go on ebay or go to your local appliance shop they might order you 1 there about £35 pound
