The problem seems to have sorted itself out. I was about to throw it on a skip but i gave it 1 more try and it worked. I have no idea why it didnt have any sound before, the wires were all in the correct places. The stereo was still in the same place i had put it when i first bought it so nothing had been moved or replaced. It now works perfect like it did before. My guess is that it got damp and had to dry out.
To my knowledge this system is Bi-Wired, meaning 2 different terminals for low frequency and midrange/high frequency, you must make sure that you have these properly wired up, i believe there is a red and a black and a grey (or blue) and a black, same on the amp, check to make 100% sure that it is correctly wired in this way, also, make sure you have the system stacked correctly, for example: spectrum analyzer, then amplifier, then dvd player, then tape deck... this ensures that you have adequate ventelation for the system... hope this helps!
I have got the same sterio with the same problem, technics are usualy the best around but this sterio is an absolute waste of £500 my solution is to just wire a different amp up to the old one

I have my stereo wired up to my TV to give it a better sound. For some reason the sound is now crackling. I have checked all the speaker connections and they seem fine. Dont know whats up??
