This is a spring-loaded PTO quick disconnect pin (part # 170110) which you depress, slide on tractor PTO shaft, and the spring pressure returns to lock on shaft. I have put penetrating oil on pin but it does not return to lock position. It appears that the spring is broken. When I go on the kingcutter.com website the PTO shaft parts are not listed and hence I cannot order. Any help is appreciated. This rotary mower is at least 10 years old - SN 1000603696 : Thanks in advance - Harry

percussive maintenance my friend. Try banging on the solenoid and starter with a hammer while in the start position. Also, if you have a voltmeter, you can see where voltage is getting to and that will help you as well.

Reading on line, I see your tractor has a PTO clutch. It must be slipping. It either needs adjusted or replaced. A slipping clutch disc will make a bad smell.

That is a Briggs & Stratton engine and given its age, I would say it is time to overhaul or replace the carburetor. Over time the float needle and seat become worn and inoperable which is why you are getting fuel in your crankcase. If you are not familiar or comfortable with working on these things, this is a job better left to a professional. There are too many things that can (AND WILL) go wrong in trying to do it yourself. Just scan through some of the questions on here and see how many others have taken theirs apart and can't remember how to put it back correctly!
