Whirlpool interior light won't shut off

If the interior lights won't come on with either door open, you might have a blown fuse or the overhead light may be switched off.
Parts book shows a door jamb switch for each door.

You are talking about interior lights, right ?
As long as the on-time is under a minute or two, its normal.
The lights are supposed to go off as soon as you start the van tho.

If you have tried to adjust your interior lights with your dash light adjuster, and it didn't work, I would say you either have a bulb out, or a blown fuse. Hope it's something simple for you. GOOD LUCK

This can be caused by a door or trunk being ajar, be sure you shut all doors firmly, if there is still no resolve check by shutting all doors then open one up and press the button (if any) on the inside of the door jam and see if it is broken or the light goes off.

There are switches in the door, check to be sure the wire didn't get broken otherwise it's most likely a bad switch there.

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.

Carefully remove the two trim plugs from each tail light assembly with a small knife blade. Remove the two hex head bolts on each assembly. Insert a small paint stir stick (soft wood won't damage paint) between the fender and the tail light assembly. Gently pull the opposite (inside) side of the assembly off. The paint stick allow the assembly to pop off the ball and socket pin holding the outside part of the assembly in place. Unplug the power plug by releasing the retainer clip. Unscrew the large black plastic nuts on the back of the assembly with a very large screwdriver, if they can't be turned by hand,and remove. Replace burned out bulb/s and reassemble in reverse order. Remember the trim plugs have two prongs on them. Position them with the prongs and the direct top and bottom and press into place.
