Starting about a month ago, a growing bright spot (where too much light is coming through) appeared on my screen. my lamp was at the end of it's life ("replace lamp" instruction would show up whenever i started the projector up - i checked, the lamp was about 2800 hours old), so i thought that was the problem. I replaced the lamp successfully, and the picture is better - but the bright spot (which bleeds from top to bottom of the screen, about 1/5th of the width) is still there. so...it's not the lamp...but what else could it be?
I have the exact same problem with my AE700. It a started about the same time, around 2500 hours for me. I lived with it untill I could afford a new bulb which arrived yesterday. The old bulb was still working at a 3603 hours when I installed the new one. But the new bulb didn't fix the problem for me either. I may try to take it apart this weekend and give it a good cleaning. Andy

Andy,
....so we know it's not the bulb/lamp. My guess is that it's something with the LCD - like when you press your finger up against the screen on your laptop (you get the liquid movement). It seems like it moves around very slowly on it's own...sometimes it's worse than others (even during the same viewing period).
If cleaning it helps, please let me know what you did. I'm not one to normally take apart my gear (not skilled in those arts), but if what you do cures the problem, i'd love to know exactly what you cleaned, etc.
thanks,
bill
PS: good to know that the bulb lasted so long. I kept the old one as a replacement just in case this new one goes kapoot.
