If youfollow steps 1- Raise theflash and thecamera is turned onin the menumode - "shoot with the flash" -but yourflashdoes not work- the restcan fixbrokenonlyengineerto repair.
There are many setting that can affect whether the flash works or not. You may have inadvertently set something that is stopping the flash from working.
Get out your User Manuals and use the index at the back of the book. Look for something about "Resetting the camera".
This will reset the camera to factory specifications. Then see if the flash works.
If that does not work ... recharge the battery and try again.
I reviewed the menu settings and made a change to the flash option setting. Some how the function was turned to the off position!

Ok, Flash unit is defective and needs to be replaced as per following part number... (if you have camera repair experience then can do it your self because electric shock risk in involve in flash unit handling)

try a non dedicated flash unit, if the flash works then the 200X is not compatible to the xg1
if the flash did not fire, there is a circuit problem. there are no new parts for this model.
I had the same problem with my flash not working on any setting, but I found a way to fix it: hit the menu button, make sure the "rec mode" choice is set to normal instead of burst. I think the burst mode takes multiple shots in a row, so the flash isn't compatible with that setting?
