Yes there are ways to recover your priceless pictures, try memory card recovery softwares, there are many site available in the internet, or you may purchase in store selling digicameras. don't format your card!!! Norton may help too!

A virus infection is present in your card, formatting is the only way to remove it. make it a habit to format the card first in your camera not in pc, before taking shots. ( do this every time you use the card in pc.)
camera unit by the way does not get infected by the virus, you can't just operate it normally using infected card.

Card error light flashing green

When the camera accesses the memory(card) a green LED will burn or flash. When it can't do what it wants, it will warn you.
A memory error, can be caused by lots of things. Like card full, card physically damaged, file system damaged. Too many folders, too many pictures. Wrong card (SD, SDHC or SDXC) cannot be used in every camera.
Check if you did put in the card correct (not the wrong way around) Check if all contacts on the memory card are clean, shiny and straight. Check if you did not switch the lock switch to the wrong position. Check if there are still pictures on the card, in an external memory card reader. put all the pictures you can find on the computer and than try to format the card. (in the computer, FAT 32) but after you put it in the camera. do a format in the camera too.

Fujifilm finepix s2900

If the pictures are in the camera's internal memory, first copy them to the memory card using the Copy command in the Playback menu. See page 89 of the manual: http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/manuals/pdf/index/s/finepix_s2800hd_manual_01.pdf

To download the pictures from the memory card to your computer, take the memory card out of your camera and put it into a card reader attached or built-in to your computer. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Fault finding

The green LED is called the memory acces lamp. When you switch off the camera is will write back the last changes. when you switch the camera on and off, the light ususaly will stay off, because nothing has changed. When you remove the card en put in another the LED will flash again. At least my D7000 with 2 card slots will do so, because someting changed and the system will write that into the memory.
