Canon S2is Hello evreone, I have bouth camera and after one year when i swich it on getting black screen but seems that camera is working(play mode is normal) same times when camera becomes "warm" after 20 black shuting it works normally, also when i'm opening chip cover and closing works normally but one or two shuts later black screen cold you help me sameone with this.. Please do the followings.

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the memory card.
3. Remove the batteries.
4. Wait at least 3-5 minutes.
5. Place the memory card and batteries.
6. Turn on the camera in any mode except review mode.
7. Take any ordinary picture.
8. Change the camera mode to review.
9. What happened now. Is everything normal. if not please write a comment to explain the situation.

I had the same problem and believe the shutter is stuck. 1) Put the camera in Tv or M mode 2) leave the view screen closed 3) snap a picture - 4) QUICKLY open the battery cover 5) turn the camera back on You may have to do this up to 10 times. It's a pain, but it worked for me.

I had the same problem here in America and had a run around from Canon, but they finally took my S2 IS in for a checkup and found the problem so many S1 IS and S2 IS had with the symptoms you have. It was the shutter sticking. Mine was only a few months out of warranty and they did a free one time courtesy repair they say. Many in other countries have to pay to get it repaired. Canon should have recalled it as they did on the S1 IS. They did not! The way to know it is a sticking shutter is to look down the lens with something to magnify the opening and you will see the shutter stuck closed and nothing happens except the shutter sound. The display shows a blank picture taken. All menus worked fine. There is a forum about this with hundreds of Canon owners frustrated about it.

It may be out of warranty. If its stil under warranty you could contact Canon from www.canon.com

Sounds like you have a stuck shutter or bad CCD. There is a temporary fix that works sometimes but eventually it will stop working alltogether. Canon can fix this or there are a couple of sellers on ebay that repair broken LCDs or shutters.

sir, ur problume related to CCD u replace CCD

Sounds like you have a bad CCD. You can try contacting Canon to check out your options on how to get this repaired. Unfortunately the S2IS is not on their CCD recall list of cameras.

Just try it with the canon service center.But this is a mnufacturing defect and they are not accepting it.They charge heavily for repair.
