I-mate PDA2K shuts down without reason, requiring hard reset.

My wifes I-mate PDA2K has started shuting down completely without warning. The battery indicates good charge both before and after the shut down. The only way to recover is to do a hard reset which looses all settings until a restore is done.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? Is there a small internal battery, that keeps the EPROM active, that might now need replacing? The unit is 3 years old.

Muzz

I had the same problem. but after changing the battery its oky now. its better u change your battery. u will end up the problem. but before changing the battery just c that is the outer cover of i-mate intact or not. because the problem with me was another one also. the external small cover could not be properly closed and it would move whenever i moved the cell phone alot. because there is a sensor along the shutting edges of the back cover. untill its closed completely your imate will give u the same problem. so first see the the cover is not moving all the time and if u do not have problem with that then change your battery. love u buddy. babay. a cute pakistani.

I have an imate pda2k pocket pc and is working good. Out of curiosity i tried hard reset and it ends to align screen. Everytime i made a hard reset the screen show " tap the screen to setup your pocket pc"...

tap and hold on align target until it moves to next corner or next step, if you are using windows 6 or 6.5 you should be very much accurate on taping and holding to align the screen.

How to do factory reset of i-mate JAQ

i-Mate JAQ3 soft reset
Resetting Your Pocket PC Phone

Occasionally you may need to reset your Pocket PC Phone. A normal
(or soft) reset of your device clears all active program memory and
shuts down all active programs. This can be useful when the device is
running slower than normal, or a program is not performing properly.
A soft reset is also necessary after the installation of some programs.
If a soft reset is performed when programs are running, unsaved work
will be lost.

You can also perform a hard reset (also known as a full reset). A hard
reset should be performed only if a normal reset does not solve a
system problem. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default
settings — the way it was when you first purchased it. Any programs
you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on the
device will be lost. Only Windows Mobile software and other preinstalled
programs will remain.

To perform a soft reset

Remove the battery cover and using the stylus, press on the small
button to the left of the battery. Otherwise simply remove the battery,
wait a few seconds and then insert the battery again.
To perform a Hard Reset

Hard reset by pressing device buttons:

1. Turn off your device.
2. Hold down the Send button, End button and Camera button.
3. Do not release Send, End and Camera, press the Power button.
4. After on-screen indication, release all the buttons.

i-Mate JAQ3 hard reset Hard reset using Master Clear

1. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Master Clear
2. On the System tab, select the Master Clear (!) icon
3. Proceed to enter the confirmation code: 1234 and push reset button,
system will auto reboot to complete the operation.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Accessories

I am using an I-Mate PDA2K. My problem is that once I switch on the PDA, it goes repeatedly to the "Messaging"and ultimately it reboots loosing all the data. Battery Power shows "full"upon recharging. And at times the PDA works for a day or two without this problem.

Reset buttom

Try doing a cold reset ( no data loss) disable the battery by sliding out and then back in, the battery pin at the back base of the phone without removing the battery PLS do not remove the battery!!!!.

If that dosen't work then you may need to remove the battery and do a default reset (you loose your phone settings) you should back up your data first before trying this.

I-mate PDA2k

To be sure if its not the battery thats bad, connect it to the charger and charge for a while. Monitor the light indicator at the top right of the phone. It should start from red to green after its fully charged. then try to restart it by turning on the power button also at the top right of the phone.
If after these procedures the phone does not start up or it shows some temporal 3 seconds flash of power, you may need to get another battery. If a new battery does not start your phone, then its a power fault. It needs to be rapaired.
