I have a Maytag MDB7600AWB dishwasher that is about 4-5 years old. Problem started as wash cycle would not start. Then I saw that pressing other buttons that some of the them would not illuminate the little lights that come on to show activation, but others would. The delay start lights would come on, but the cycle would not start after the indicated delay time passed. I suspect that the problem is with the control board, but I would like to know if anybody else has had a simular problem and what it took to fix it. Thank you in advance for your help.
Donnson, sounds more like the touch panel shorted or stuck keypads. You can remove the touch panel ribbon from the control board and try to clean it with an eraser. You will need to remove the torx screws and remove the inside panel. See if it comes back to life. Behind the toe-panel on the bottom, there should be a tech sheet showing how to check the key pad. The key pad and control board are warranteed for 5 years on this model, parts only. Catriver..post back.

I have a MDB7601AWW with the same condition.
I have the same problem with Maytag MDB7601AWW. I called Maytag and was told nothing on my machine is covered after 1 year including the circuit board and touchpad.
I have the same problem on my Maytag MDB7601AWW model. My dishwasher will work on the "normal" cycle, but I cannot use the "heavy wash", "light wash", "rinse only", or the "insta wash". The options panel allows me to select "sanitize", "hi temp wash" and "tough scrub plus", but not the "heated dry" option.
My problem was similar to donsson. My MDB7601AWS display would not light up when I pressed the buttons to select the cycle, but the "2H" would light up after start was pressed. Now, after a few months of this, no lights come on but the cycle usually runs. I will try the solution presented and report back. Thanks for the help, Cat
I have the same problem with control buttons. I tried the solution of cleaning the ribbon to no avail. I cannot find directions on checking to keypad or control panel as indicated in the solution. Thus far only the front door panel timer light is working. Any other suggestions?
We have a very similar problem as all of the above....
When we go to select normal wash and press start the machine will start and then a few moments later will swith to a 9min rinse cycle. None of the buttons will work at that point. We can not cancel or switch it back. It was an intermitent issue once before and now does it every time.
It just had a check up a few months ago and was fine. We had sears come in for a routine before our ext. warranty ran out.....of course it is now no longer under warranty!!!
Any suggestions out there?
