I load a disc into my PS2, and it goes through the motions. It then goes to the browser / system configuration window, and whatever I try will not move past this.
Ive tried different games, loading dvd's and the only message it displays is "reading disc". Nothing happens - I even tried leaving it for an hour or so - nothing!
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Re: Won't load or play disc or dvd
It's a well known fact PS2's had a cheap lazer fitted to them, that's why when it gets chiped to play copy games, not long after it starts playing up.
The lazer may just need aligning, purchase a cd/dvd cleaning cd rom as these can check audio, lazer alignment and clean the lens.

Dear Sir!You should increase the disc speed.Follow these steps to increase the disc speed:
Step 1>>Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc into it.
Step 2>>Wait for the main menu [Containing Browser and System Configuration ].
Step 3>>Press Triangle Button to enter Version Information menu.
Step 4>>Move the cursor to Play Station Driver and Press Triangle to enter Play Station Driver menu.
Step 5>>At PlayStation Driver screen, Press x at Disc Speed and set it to Fast.
Step 6>>Enter game disc and enjoy.
Hope that solves your problem.Good Luck!
Does this problem apply to ALL of your discs? If not, then first, when putting your discs in the tray, be sure that ALL of the three PINS on the tray that holds the disc are locked in place, meaning they should all be sticking out on the hole of your DVD. This happened to me a lot...heheh...then, if this problem apply to all of your disc, There probably is a problem with the lens of your PS2...either slim or the fat one...then the only solution is to have your lens replaced...sorry, but i don't know how much it cost now...
