It seems to be only my shift key on the right hand side of my keyboard isn't working. The rest of the keys work perfectly. Is it a hardware problem or is just a worn out key? Know how to fix it?
If there were more that one key that has failed it would indicate that
you have a keyboard controller chip that has failed or that the
connector from the keyboard to the motherboard is not making proper
contact. You may get that key to work by pressing that key very firmly.
You may be able to fix the faulty key by removing that key and spraying
the faulty key contact with electronic spray cleaner whilst pressing
the key pad several times. It may not work because it may be sealed and
the cleaning fluid may not be able to penetrate the key contacts.
Then the only thing to do is to buy and fit a new keyboard from the manufacrurer.,
