The wife told me it was squeaking quite loudly a few days ago, and then this evening it was running and towards the end of the drying time it started squeaking loudly every once and a while as the drum turned. Where is the best place to start looking for the cause?
There is a belt tension'er it might need to be replacing or temp fix greasing or drum bearing replacing or temp fix greasing to do this you will have to remove the drum

Try checking the glide wheels under the barrel they may need to be cleaned and lubed.

You know how when the pads on your car get worn they start that noise? Well the bearing that holds the tub has a metal bracket. When that plastic wears down it begins to makes those noises. Inside, the drum rides on rollers that support it. The bearings fail and will squeak. The noisy one will have to be replaced. You will have to open it up and try to locate the noisy one.
