Trying to remove a flat tire. Got the lug nuts off but cannot remove the tire. Could it be rusted on? I checked for an antilock device but did not see that type of lug. What can I do? If I need to pry it off, how do I do it without damaging the wheel? It looks to be aluminum or alloy or the like.
Take a hammer or sledge and beat on the tire NOT THE RIM in a X rotation. wheels are probably aluminum and get oxidised onto the hub. as long as you hit the rubber tire you will not damage the wheel. It might take several minutes of banging on it to get it loose. when you are going to reassemble the wheel and hub make sure to wire brush the hub and wheel clean then take some Antiseize and put a nice amount around the hub where the rim makes contact that will help it do not happen again

it sounds like its rusted to the hub and you will have to hit the tire with a hammer or something to break the rust so the wheel will come off.sounds like its been a while since the wheels were removed.
If the lug nuts are off the wheel may be rusted to the hub. With a light wieght hammer (1 or 2 lbs.) start tapping gently around the perimeter of the wheel. This will eventually loosen the wheel from the hub.If the lug nuts are frozen spray them with some WD-40 the use a pipe as an extension to your lug wrench. This gives you more leverage.
turn lug nuts counter clockwise while the tires are still on the ground then raise the front end and take off loose lug nuts and wheels. reverse steps when done
The lug nuts are the only thing holding the wheel on, aside from a little rust in some cases. Stand in front of the tire facing away from it, try giving it a swift kick on the edge. Of course, you must exercise caution when doing this. Be sure the vehicle is properly supported and won't fall the jack stand.
it seized on the hub is all. lay on side, kick with the back of you heel without laying under vehicle. thread on a lug a few turns so it doesnt take off. be carful! make sure its hoisted safely with a block or stand for back up
