The LEDs on my dishwasher do not light up when the door is closed. The Start/reset LED flashes when the door is open. However, once it is closed, nothing is displayed.

The control panel light do not light up when the door is closed. I've disconnected the power in hopes of resetting the controls. "no joy" Is there a fuse that may need replacing? Is there something other than having a tech replace the mother board? The control panel light do not light up when the door is closed. I've disconnected the power in hopes of resetting the controls. Best way I have found is to disconnect power (turn off breaker for 30 sec), open the door, turn on and within 60 seconds press ON/OFF and SELECT buttons at the same time (if done correctly, all LEDs flash together), then close door. This enters the service mode (which reset mine with no issues).
What's the model number? How old is this dishwasher? The new GE dishwashers (less than 3 years old) have a weakness in the door switch/latch assembly, and that would cause the light to flash - it wants you to press Start and close the door, but it's not recognizing that the door is closed.
Yes, you can switch the cycle completion signal off (or raise/lower the volume)
1. Switch the dishwasher off using the ON/OFF button
2. Open the door
3. Switch the dishwasher on again. (One of the wash cycle LEDs will flash.)
4. Hold the > button in. Continue holding it and press and release the Start/Reset button once, then release the > button.
"Clean" and one other LED should now be flashing. This indicates that the dishwasher is in the options/settings mode. If they are not flashing, start over at step 1.
5. Press > repeatedly, until the LEDs for "Clean", "Sanitized" and "Rinse Agent" are all flashing.
6. Press repeatedly until none of the LEDs are flashing.
The number of flashing LEDs indicate the volume setting . . .
It is probably because your Smart Dispenser is full of water and there may be a clog of some type in the pump. Try purging your Smart Dispenser and see if it fixes the problem!! It fixed ours!!
How to Purge Smart Dispenser
The
purge routine operates the bulk dispenser pump continuously to drain
the bulk dispenser tank when an incorrect liquid was poured in the
tank. The process consists of setting up the dishwasher to run the
purge mode, running the purge mode and then cleaning up the purged
detergent.
Follow these steps carefully to have a successful purge run.
For Top Control Models:
Make sure Pre-wash, Added Heat and Heated Dry LEDs are off.
Press Heated Dry and Down Arrow buttons together for 3 seconds. All LEDs will illuminate.
Press Added Heat and Up Arrow buttons together for 3 seconds. The Anti-bacteria LED will illuminate
Press Start button one time
Select Normal and make sure Pre-wash, Added Heat and Heated Dry LEDs are off.
Press Start button one more time and dishwasher
will run a complete cycle without the main motor running. Cycle is
complete when the Clean light illuminates. This should take
approximately 60 minutes.
Open door and wipe up excess detergent from the door and tub
Flush remaining detergent off by pouring water on the door and tub where there is detergent residue.
Remove SmartDispenser cap and fill tank with water and then replace cap.
Repeat Steps 1 through 9 one time.
Then, repeat Steps 1 through 6. When the Clean
LED illuminates, the system is purged and ready to be refilled with the
correct detergent.
Front Mount Controls (same as above except for the changes in the two below steps):
2. Press Heated Dry and Cookware together for 3 seconds. All LEDs illuminate.
3. Press Added Heat and Cookware together for 3 seconds. The Anti-bacterial LED illuminates.

The GE technician came to my place this morning and here what he told me.
The start / reset button is used to reset the current wash cycle. You just have to close the door and 90 sec later the dishwasher will be ready to start another cycle. This button is used usually to cancel a wash cycle.
A more drastic measure is to turn off the dishwasher breaker in the electric panel for 30 minutes in order to clear the memory of the panel. After 30 minutes, turn on the breaker and the dishwasher will be back to the factory defaults.
