Occasionally a little blue square is displayed in the middle right of the tv.
Once in a while a little blue square appears in the middle of the tv and does not go away until I shut the tv off and then turn it back on. why is this? what does it mean? should I have it serviced? the tv is only 3 weeks old.

You`ve mentioned that ON CERTAIN CHANNELS THE TV WORKS FINE, so your trying to say that not all channels THE BLACK SQUARE APPEARS IN THE MIDDLE O THE SCREEN... my be that black square is generated from the broadcast center. may be your unit is good. let me ask you how many channels that your tv works fine..?
Right click in the middle of the screen and and a grey box will appear. Go to the bottom and select 'Poperties'. The Display Properties box will appear. Click on the 'Settings' tab. Move the slider labeled 'Screen Resolution' to the left or right and select the appearance you desire. Click Apply then OK.
Check your closed-caption settings and be sure they are turned off. If captioning is set for text mode you can have this trouble. The TV blanks out a part of the screen for the text it never gets to display. Once captioning is shut off (or set for normal caption mode if you want to use it) the black box will be gone.
