Digital clock gains time

I have a Wextclox model 66713, 1.5" red LED alarm clock with the translucent plastic case, that gains about 5 minutes every 8 hours. The manufacture date on the bottom is 5-99! I love this clock, and would really like to keep it going. The closest thing I can find is the Westclox Triad with 2" numbers. Can this be repaired?

SOURCE: Westclox model 22717

Hi faulkquarter

I take it that the clock displayed with this problem if not a 22717 model. The one I have sighted is a digital clock. Generally, you need to hold down the "time" button and also press the "hours" and "mins" buttons at the same time to set the time. If this is not how your clock appears, please give me the button names and I can write a method of changing the time for you.

regards
Graeme

SOURCE: Westclox Travel Alarm

After selecting either TIME, DATE, or ALARM at the top of the screen, use the stylus to touch and hold the large time display. Hold it there for about 5 seconds and the clock will beep and the time display will start flashing. Then you can touch either the hours or minutes and it will increase by either 1 hour or 1 minute accordingly. When the DATE is selected, it shows the year in the large display. Again, holding the stylus on the year diaply for about 5 seconds will enter into the chqange mode. IN all cases, to exit the change mode simply select one of the other selections across the top: TIME, DATE, ALARM.

Spartus 1183-61 Jumbo Alarm Clock gains 5 minutes in a day. How to adjust please?

Question edited for clarity. Category moved to Clocks - Home.

Quartz digital clocks normally have no method of adjustment. The most likely reason it is gaining now is a failing capacitor or resistor. A voltage is applied to a quartz crystal and the electrical vibrations from it are translated into time. This article suggests there may be a 'trimmer pot' inside. They look like a short 1/4" block, or a circular device with a Bakelite screw slot in the middle. The need VERY small changes.

It you really want accuracy, buy a new Atomic Clock that is set automatically via a Time Server.

I have 2 clocks (model 40009,40010)that have inaccurate time

I read the manual which said to depress the alarm button. That wasn't the right button but I found that depressing the button next to it, the DST button, that that fixed the problem.
Thanks.
