I have an older model 3512-9 Bissell vacuum cleaner and the belt broke. I cannot figure out how to remove the bottom of the vacuum in order to replace the belt. Help!
Tehre are tabs on the bottom. Push them in the direction of the arrow (one at a time) and lift with some force on the cage thingy that partially covers the sweeper. Do the same for the other side. It doesn't matter which side you do first.
There are two tabs on the bottom that release the plate and allow the plate to be snapped in and out. They are easy to spot. But, there are also screw holes in some models and there may be screws in them. You might have to deal with both. The screws are unecessary and you can leave them out when you put the plate back on.
Here's a quick link to assist you with changing the brush belt.
