Water collects on shelves in refrig.

Refrig. seems to work fine except water collecting on top of the left side crisper drawer. The unit has a top freezer and is approx. 16 cu.ft.

Sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

Hi,

The defrost drain is located just under the cooling coils in the back of the freezer. You will need to unload the food and remove the shelves from the freezer. Take the back panel off from inside the freezer and you will see a hole just below the coils. Flush it with hot water using a turkey baster or small hose. See the link below for more details.

Mine clogs with a soft fungus mat but rust actually sounds better. I run a stiff wire like an unwound hanger into the hole and open it up so the water will drain onto the tray made to collect this water underneath the fridge. Last time I left the wire in place with a long handle and I haven't had water to mess with for many months now. My hole is between the two crisper drawers and when I get into either of them the wire gets a jiggle and I guess that's all it takes to keep the hole clear so the water can drain like it's supposed to.

Otherwise the fungus builds and builds until it sluffs off as a wad and plugs up the works on a regular basis. Too funky for sure.

Water collecting under crisper drawers.

When the refrigerator goes into defrost mode there is a drain tube that allows water melted off the evaporator coil to go into the drain pan that you found empty. That drain tube is clogged.

open the freezer compartment loo for ice build up on floor of frezer especally towards rear behind back panel. sounds like you have a clogged/frozen defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials)
