Carousel does not rotate from one cd to the next

Plays first cd fine; however when it is time to rotate to the next cd it freezes up. Must then either turn on/off the cd player or open the tray and advance to the next cd in order to play. Any advice?

I just had the same problem with my parents dx-c206. I first found the motor drive unit with quite a bit of dismantlement, the drive circuitry is under the turntable as well for the drive motors. Once in the drive motor unit, the associated circuitry is clearly seperated on the circuit board between the drive and the actual cd spin motor and laser circuit, I checked all the voltages to common and all seemed fine, I then discharged the caps, and it then by itself started to spin again, it still has a few glitches, that it might freeze, could have been also a faulty cap. Real reason is unsure, this was a lucky fix... I did also remove what I presumed is a coil sensor unit that is also located under the turn table, once the small rectagular circuit board is removed u will find two U shaped (presumed magnetic sensors). I dought that any cleaning I did fixed this, but this could possibly have been infra red sensors, that would requirer some cleaning. These sensors are responsable for the turntable positioning.

How do I fix Sony CDP-CX355 that keeps continually moving the carousel back and forth and never goes all the way around?

If your Sony CDP-CX355 CD player keeps moving the carousel back and forth without completing a full rotation, it could indicate a mechanical issue. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Power cycle: Turn off the CD player, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a power cycle can resolve temporary glitches.
  2. Reset the player: Look for a reset button or option on the CD player. This could involve pressing a specific combination of buttons or using a small reset pinhole. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
  3. Check for obstructions: Inspect the carousel and the area around it for any obstructions. Remove any CDs or debris that may be blocking the movement of the carousel. Ensure that there are no loose parts or foreign objects interfering with the operation.
  4. Clean the player: Dust and dirt can affect the performance of the CD player. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the surface of the player, including the carousel and any accessible internal components. Be cautious not to apply excessive force or use liquids that could damage the player.
  5. Lubricate the carousel mechanism: Over time, the carousel mechanism may become stiff or dry, causing issues with rotation. Applying a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of the carousel can help improve its movement. Use a lubricant specifically designed for electronic components and follow the instructions provided.

What is the most likely cause of a "NO DISK" error with the Onkyo DX-C390 6-Disk changer? Would it be the laser pickup assembly?

Could be dirty laser lens, dying laser, faulty component,
Due to the complexity of multi-disk changers, it may be best to have the device looked at.
You can try running a cleaning disk through it first, but from your post, it sounds like this unit may have multiple problems and need tested by a physical person.

Sony cdp cx 355 skips on first track

Could be some dust or debris in the unit. Also be careful that you are not putting fingermarks near the hole section of each CD you put in, as the CD plays from the centre out.

I own a Wurlitzer 1015 100cd machine that when turned on flashes number 8 , picks up the CD selected, places it on the CD player which does not turn and after a short while returns it back in its slot....

It is a faulty "actuator switch" for the microswitch K7. Look at the base of the gripper .....follow that rod backwards towards the gearbox and you will see a little sticker saying K7. There is a microswitch activated by a 'duckbill' bracket. Either the bracket has slipped or it is broken, or K7 is faulty.
Wait until the cd has been placed back in the carousel then press on K& and if it the carousel rotates to the next selection...there's the problem.
In a new machine there is a Allen key for tightening that bracket.

Broken carouself? Can't properly open, close, rotate, etc.

Broken gears. The current replacement 5 disc is a CD/DVD player and sells for $129.00 at Sony or any other Sony retailer. The cost to have a service center even estimate the repair would be more than 50% of the replacement cost. Hope this helps

CD player does not rotate

Hi there.

There could be a couple of reasons. I doubt very much that it is due to the lens. First thought is that it is probably the locking mechanism. If you look at the cd loading mechanism, there is a small plate with a locking tab that moves into place to hold the carousel still when the unit is loading a cd. This plate slides along the bottom of the unit between the cd loader and the carousel.

Secondly, it could be that the carousel is jammed on the rotating platter that it moves on. A couple of screws and it should come out - be carefull not to bend anything!

Thirdly, check the stepper motor that turns it - but I doubt this is the problem either as you said you couldn't turn it by hand either. You will need to remove the carousel to do this.

Good Luck !

My jukebox doesn't play

The machine knows where the Cds are on the carousel by counting as it turns. The sensor that does this is a light gate situated at about 6 oclock on the edge of the carousel. There is a little light in there like a torch bulb. If you cant see a little light in there then thats yiour problem. The machine rotates continuously because it is trying to find position zero and can't.
