Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36HS420 36" TV

2 Answers

KV-34HS420-Sony Tv Recently my TV seems to have developed a black "frame" around the picture. All around the edges of the picture there is a section of the screen that is only black. The picture does not seem to be distorted in any way, it just seems as if the picture no longer encompasses the whole screen. The black section is approxiamatley an an inch on each side. Any ideas?

Well based on ur info, ur tv has a prolem in power supply section, particularly regulation circuit. the regulator of the circuit seems to be mulfunctioning thats why insufficient voltage is coming out from B+ which in turn goes to high voltage circuits thats why the produced picture is insufficient. if this is very technical to u, have it check with a qualified technician.

Go into Settings and play with 'Aspect Ratio'. Remember though, not all shows are made in Widescreen format, and certainly nothing made older than 10 years ago.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

If the lines are not actually in the picture but on the screen it may be if they are straight fine tape used around the inside edges of the screen---if in the actual picture a different story.

Developed film pictures have black around the edges

My guess would be that whatever lens your using is causing that. The black edges are basically caused because the lens may not be fit the camera correctly, causing the camera to "see" part of the lens itself when taking a photo.

Picture does not bleed to edge

this symptom is caused by a poor regulation in the power supply circuit. too low dc supply voltage will result to insufficient deflection, both vertically and horizontally. black borders appear around the raster. receivers generally use regulator in the main power supply to set the dc supply voltage at the value that will allow the picture to fill the screen with a little overscan. defective regulator can result in a small raster. most modern receivers today are using ic (integrated cirduit) regulator. but if you are not inclined with this kind of job, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
