Eletrical problem i just received a new control pannel for my hood. prior to this, the hood lights would not work but the fan would. i replaced the control unit, but may have not hooked it up correctly. now, the lights work, but the fan doesn't. i've called zephyr, but they're closed for the weekend, and the manual and web site doesn't give me any info. thanks!

You need a new remote receiver.

Main Control Board If the range vent hood fan and light are not working the main control board may be defective.

User Control and Display Board If the range vent hood fan and light are not working the user control and display board may be defective. Check other causes before ordering this board.

Some installers plug the fan/light into an outlet in the cupboard above. Check to see if that has power. Some of the outlets are behind a panel in the cabinet above and you have to remove the screws. I have seen the plugs laying in the cabinet just like they had never been plugged in. Yours obviously was plugged in but maybe fell out. If the fan/light is hard wired than you should make sure the power is turned off at the breaker box and then check the wiring inside the box to make sure it is wire nutted together and is holding. I would also check that the breaker for the fan/light is still putting out power. These last two might be a little tricky if you have never tried them. The breakers sometimes go bad but look like they are set. If the whole hood fan is not getting power it is probably time for an electrician or the people who installed to come back.

The transmitter is the remote. The receiver is located inside the fan mounting bracket next to the ceiling. If you replace it make sure to set the dip settings on the new receiver exactly as they are on the old one. Wire the new receiver exactly as the old one is wired if it was working before.

Turn the power off to the fan / light by flipping the breaker or pulling the fuse and keep off for 10 seconds then turn back on, it should reset the contol receiver in the fan.

most of my fan controls have done this to me. you know the reciever is working cuz the fan works fine. you need to dis assemble the remote completely and clean the contacts for the light button. mine are two small black dots that seem to keep getting slimey and wont work till i clean them, then all works like brand new again.

unplug the unit and unscrew the bulbs. put 2 new in if they still dont work then you may have fried the control. there are usually no fuses between the control and light/fan. well i never saw a fuse between the 2.

Your problem is: This hood worked fine until a light bulb blew out. Put in a new light bulb, but the lights will not turn off. Is the light switch bad or is there a problem with the control panel? The fan still works fine but the lights will not turn off or adjust dim or bright.

You're on the right track. The light control switch needs replacing. You might try utilizing the Repair Directory to find a repairman. If you have the tools and ability just remember to turn off the electric first.

Its an eletrical problem, Check the relay on the main contorl(panel fuse box) the one in under the hood, .. The relay controls the the power going to the blower I believe you will find your problem there. If not the relay directly then the eletrical connecting to that relay eighter directly in the box or the wiring from there to the Blower.

Nb. The main hot is in the box as well

Had same problem & fuse fixed it.
Before buying a new control board (approx $160), check the 3 amp fuse located on the inside of the vent on the control board. You have to take the light/bottom housing & black plastic air chute off to see control board/fuse.
